Over the last few days disturbing photos and videos of a young woman with a bruised and swollen face and body have been circulating social media. Alexis, 23, was diagnosed in January with Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria. PNH is a rare blood disorder, usually diagnosed in a patients 30’s, which sees the bodies immune system attack and damage red blood cells and platelets and can be fatal if left untreated. Symptoms include shortness of breath, kidney problems, difficulty swallowing, esophageal spasms, stomach pain, back pain, and erectile dysfunction.
Alexis moved from Florida to California in effort to find treatment from a specialist for this 6 in a million diagnosis. After suffering from severe migraines she presented to UCI Irvine Medical Hospital for treatment. There she was forced to agree to 3 vaccines or be refused treatment all together. Ten minutes after the vaccines were administered Alexis began having symptoms, bruising started appearing on her face and spreading throughout her body, her face began swelling, she experienced vomiting, inability to see and severe pain.
There are some questions surrounding the vaccines that were given to her, while the paperwork states that she was given pnemonia, tetanus and menengitis vaccine, Nurse Angela, her medical advocate was allegedly told by hospital staff this was not correct. The alleged doctor that required the vaccines to be administered before treatment is seen in a video speaking about a study in which they are in desperate need for patients for a newly approved drug, which requires these three vaccines to have been administered. Her current treatment has consisted of 5-6 different opioids for the pain and four platelet transfusions that Alexis says have been making her symptoms worse following each transfusion and not having an effect on her platelet level.
Her sister and father are currently with her along with her advocate Nurse Angela with Children’s Health Defense. Her latest condition has seen some improvement but her pain and swelling persists with no end in sight.
To support Alexis health care costs I have linked her fundraiser but simply sharing her story will help bring awarness to her story. As of now she has yet to have contact from the doctor that ordered the vaccines.
